Maybe Motorola Q isn’t any better
A while ago, I traded up from my XV6700 to a Motorola Q as a result of some of the charactistics of the 6700. After using the Q for a short while now, beginning to wonder if it actually is any better. Here are some of my complains with it:
- It doesn’t autodetect when my bluetooth headset is around. If I go away and come back, I have to manually go into the Bluetooth Manager and reconnect.
- Battery life with the standard battery sucks.
- Often times, when I am on the phone for a long period of time, the display and keypad will essentially stop responding. The phone will be working, but I can’t get the display on, can’t hang up, can’t do anything. Have to pull the battery and restart it.
- Often times, the phone will just die on me. I will go to check email or something and the phone will be off. And pressing the power button to turn it on doesn’t work. I have to pop out the battery, put it back in, and then power it on. It is starting to do it more often. I don’t know if it isn’t holding a charge or what, but it shows it as charged, and often does it when it has only been off the charger for a short time.
Perhaps it is just time to get a Blackberry.
You might also check out the Samsung BlackJack if it is available in your area. I have heard good things about this phone. It is smaller than the Motorola Q.

The BlackJack is for Cingular, not Verizon. The BlackJack-like version for Verizon, the Samsung i760, isn’t set to be released until Q2 07.
Overall, with my experience of the XV6700 and now the Q, I’m just beginning to think the Windows Mobile platform just isn’t fit for me.

Did you return it and get a new one? I had one similar to yours at first, but they exchanged it and the new one works perfectly. I guess they have some lemons out there…

It’s funny that the Q is still around. It has been so many changes over the years that it is nothing like the original oversized flip phone that it started out to be. It has always had an overheating problem, which may be what you are experiencing. It overheats and the phone locks up.
You can get it replaced and hopefully the new one won’t be as sensative to heat, but over time (2+ years) it will start to overheat again. I used to only get Motorola phones, but I’ve since switched to LG and have never had any problems.

Ken if you end up selling the Q, I may buy it just like the Audiovox.

I’ve had to send mine back twice. There is some kind of glitch with this phone.
